Good Monday Morning!
I am back from Delaware. It was a great weekend of lacrosse, but the ride home was a nightmare. What should have been about a 3 hour trip from DE to Richmond, took us almost 6 hours. No accident, no construction – just heavy summer traffic congestion. It was so frustrating. We didn’t roll into our driveway until 2:00 a.m. Yikes!
Family Road Trips are a part of summer and can be unpredictable, but another part of summer that will never let you down is the screen door. I know that might sound kind of silly, but I just love the sound of a screen door slamming and kids running in and out. I have craved that sound my whole life and always said it was one of the reasons I wanted a lot of kids. Think back to some of your most cherished memories … vacations at the lake house, the beach or hanging in your own backyard. It almost always involves the sound of a slamming screen door – doesn’t it?
What could be wrong with a door that lets in the cool breeze, welcomes friends and neighbors and lets you smell the great outdoors? I love sitting in my house and being able to smell the neighbor’s fireplace burning, freshly cut grass or hamburgers on the grill. Here are some examples of some great screen doors:
You can bring these same feelings indoors by using a screen door as an interior door. I love these screen doors used as pantry doors:
I really wanted to put screen doors on my pantry, but my opening is such a weird size, I couldn’t find two doors that fit. I ended up with louvered doors. I like the doors but I think I would LOVE the screen doors. I am getting ready to paint the louvered doors a cool green color so that might help. I will show you pictures when I complete this little project.
Hope your life is more screen door heaven than havoc!
