Happy Monday!
If you are anything like me, you are just now realizing that Halloween is in 2 days and you haven’t carved your pumpkin. In my case, I haven’t even bought my pumpkins. I think since my kids are older now, I don’t have the same pressure to get all the Halloween traditions finished. They take care of their own costumes, go to parties instead of trick or treating and don’t want to touch the “gucky” stuff in the pumpkin that needs to be removed to carve. So … I just kinda blow it all off.
I still like to have a welcoming Halloween home for the little kids in the neighborhood. I love to see the little ghost, goblins and superhero’s come to the door with their pillow cases. So cute! This year, since I am on this crappy diet, I need to get some candy that I won’t be tempted to eat. That means no chocolate. I am thinking AirHeads. Seriously, who would crave that sucky candy?
Here are some pumpkins that I wish I would have created for my front porch this year:

I think I have too high of expectations to complete any of these beautiful pumpkins this year. Looks like the ceramic pumpkins with a glow stick are in my future. Sorry neighborhood kids … but I will still have AirHeads. Yum!
On a little side note … today is my beautiful son’s 13th birthday. I can’t believe my baby is 13!! He came to us from Guatemala when he was 1 year old and it has been a true joy these last 12 years watching him grow into such an amazing young man. We are so blessed that God picked us to be his parents.
This is a picture of the first time my baby boy and I ever laid eyes on each other. It still makes me cry when I look at it. He looks a little scared and I am so happy my heart almost burst. An amazing day!
Hope your life is more birthday heaven than ceramic pumpkin havoc!

I haven’t bought my pumpkins either–go figure. Happy birthday to the teenager!!
I say it’s too late … let’s skip it!
That’s such a beautiful picture of you and your son. How wonderful to have captured that moment on film! Happy birthday to him. As for pumpkins, I’ll be in line with you because I haven’t bought one yet either. Happy Halloween!
Thanks so much Peggy. I love this picture so so much … my sister captured the moment perfectly. I give you permission to skip the pumpkin this year – just have good candy!
Thanks Missi! (Late with the reply because I was busy eating candy…;) )
Hey Missi…I remember when he had the coveted light sabre bedroom decor! (And, BTW, it’s cool if he still does!) Happy Belated Birthday to the young man he has become! What a joyful picture…priceless.
