Good Monday Morning!
This week is one of those weird weeks where there is a holiday right in the middle. I think this is a pretty good excuse for taking the whole week off – don’t you? I would say I wish I was at the beach, but with this heat, my vote is for Iceland.
Sadly, the Smith’s are not going anywhere. Well – some of the Smith’s anyway. One daughter is going to the beach with a friend and my son is going to the lake with a friend. I am pretty sure that the six of us have not been under the same roof once this summer. I guess God is getting me ready for when they leave the nest. This will come up quicker than I can imagine and I am dreading it!
Today’s post is about a 4th of July Tablescape. My Mom sent me a picture of her table for July and I fell in love. This woman could make garbage look good on a table. It is amazing how she can just gather up some things she was collecting and were laying around the basement – put them in a grouping on the table and WA-LA …. centerpiece.
My Mom lives in Minnesota so I couldn’t be there to take pictures so I want to thank my adorable sister-in-law for taking the pictures and sending them to me!
Isn’t she so cute? She makes my brother insanely happy! Just a side note … who is the crazy photo bomber in this picture?
Anyway …check out this table … Hold on tight … you will be blown away.
Where do I begin? I think with the incredible grouping of old thermos’ in the middle. What a cool idea!!
I love this old Campbell’s Soup thermos and … it is the right colors!
Don’t have the top to a thermos? No biggie … just stick a couple flags in it!
To the left of the grouping of thermos’ is an old wire basket with a geranium. Loving the glasses with the red swirl … kinda looks like the “trail” of a sparkler!
This grouping is to the right. Where did she get that awesome plaid old lunchbox? I’m going to have to find that out. I could do a lot of things with that sucker. So loving the old Scrabble tiles by the plant. Mom … you kill me! So super cute!
These little wreaths tied onto the back of the chairs have a funny little story that go with them. My mom was down here in Atlanta visiting. We went to one of our favorite shops that also has a cafe – it is called Scottsdale Farms and it is incredible! It is really a nursery, but they built this huge barn in the middle and added a shop and cafe. Anyway … these wreaths were hanging on the back of the chairs in the cafe. There was no way Mom was leaving without them. We asked to buy them – they agreed and we literally untied them right off the chairs.
I definitely think it was worth it … they look awesome. The best part is they could be used for any season with a different ribbon. I always wonder what my Dad thinks when he see stuff like this and realizes he will be eating on a TV tray for the month of July. ??
Another look … it is just that good!
How does she think of these things? I hope that when I grow up I am still this creative!
This little take-home goodie is on each plate. An American Flag to wave at the parade, a box of sparklers for evening fun and Mom’s version of a cherry bomb (much safer). Who wouldn’t want to come over for a BBQ at Mom’s house and get to take home these goodies? Oh – and she makes a mean potato salad!!
For the kids and the “kids at heart” – each table setting has a butterfly that lights up and changes color! Oooooh!
The details are stunning! Red lantern, patriotic candles and a green plant.
I hope you find the time to take in all in. The dinnerware, table runner, even the tied up silverware.
Y’all have two days to get your table together … Ha! I’m just putting out my flag on my porch and calling it a happy day!
See you tomorrow for Teach Me Tuesday! Have a wonderful Monday!
Hope your life is more sparkler heaven than photo bomb havoc!

The crazy photo bomber is my Mother, your Moms good neighbor & friend. Ha!
Love your blog!
Missi,
Hello! Absolutely love your mother’s table designs! I like to take items from around my house, garden, etc and create my own center pieces to go with the table settings, but she has me beat by a mile! Now, just think what your mother could do have if she had a blog like yours to go along with all of that creative talent! Wait! She has her daughter! The apple never falls far from the tree you know! Enjoy your July fourth! I totally know what you mean about the teen to young adult ” child ” ghosts” living under my roof too!
