Hello All!
Did you read my story about my car wash phobia yesterday? If not, you can read it HERE. My Mom calls me yesterday after she read the story and reminded me of a couple little memories I must have chosen to block out. The first thing she told me is that my Dad had no recollection of me being in the hospital – my Mom said that I was in the hospital for 10 days … 10! Thanks Dad. I guess I was pretty sick … I had not remembered being there for that long. The second little ditty she reminded me of was about a group of visitors I had while I was there.
I was a Pi Kappa Epsilon “little sister” in college. Mom so sweetly reminded me of when half the fraternity house came to the hospital to visit me. Not only that, she proceeded to tell me how bad I looked. My car wash soap dread-locks were looking pretty awesome by the 5th day of no shower. I was imagining, in my own mind, that I might have had funky dread-locks that could have been cool … Nope says Mom “it was 6 pieces of ratted hair sticking straight out of my head”. Not so cool I guess. She also proceeded to tell me that I wasn’t allowed to wear my contacts so I had an old pair of “coke bottle” glasses on that didn’t fit so they were taped to my forehead. WTF? Could it have gotten any worse? No wonder I didn’t have a date for the next Fraternity dance.
Speaking of my sweet Mother …
You might remember her amazing July Tablescape. This lady can decorate a table. I am always so amazed at what she puts together. Today’s post features her fabulous Fall/Back to School tablescape:
Seriously … how amazing is this? I am loving the old typewriter and the globe is beyond words! The globe has been cut in half and then an old music stand put on the top. The “schoolhouse” sign is an old flashcard she found at an antique store. She has such a talent for seeing unusual objects and figuring out how to use them in the coolest ways.
Here is a full look at the table. The runner is burlap and stamped with her surname initial. I found it in an Etsy shop and bought one for myself and my girlfriend as well. I like that it can be used all year round.
An up close of the typewriter … doesn’t it have so much character? I love it!
Loving the rattan chargers and the sunflower plates. Sunflowers just scream Fall!
Antique, tin lunchboxes really add color and interest to the table. That Six Million Dollar Man lunchbox cracks me up. Those are wax apples – don’t they look real?
Mom says I gave her that floral arrangement. I don’t remember that … it must have been during my “dreads phase” – I seem to have forgotten quite a bit about that time.
Hope your life is more fall table heaven than coke bottle glasses havoc!
Missi
