Fabulous Friday Favorite – Painted Concrete Floors

It’s Friday and I am frickin exhausted!!  What is it about the first week of school that kicks your butt? Oh I know … could it be getting up at 6:30 to the sound of teenagers screaming at each other because one “touched” the other one’s side of the bathroom? Or maybe it is the running out for school supplies every single night cuz no one can remember what they need at the same time? Oooorrrr….maybe it is all the damn paperwork that has to be filled out and signed – Um, hello school decision makers – ever heard of being “green”? What is the deal with all the paper? Seriously!!

As tired as I might be, I am never too tired to write about my Fabulous Friday Favorite. This week’s FFF is painted concrete floors. I saw my first painted concrete floor several years ago at a friend’s house. She had her basement floor stained and it was gorgeous. It was so rich and warm. The best part was you could spill anything on it and just mop it up – easy peasy!

Here are some amazing painted concrete floors I have come across lately:

This hexagon painted floor makes the entire room. What a statement!

A little painted embellishment in the corner of a concrete patio really warms up the slab and makes it homey and funky!

Ok … who has the time to paint this elaborate rug on a concrete floor? By the time you paid someone to design and paint this for you, you could have bought yourself a Persian Rug. Duh!

These painted stripes make such an impact in this small kitchen. Great idea!

These floors are very similar to my friend’s basement floors. They look so beautiful, but I am not sure I would like them in the main part of my home. I think they could be cold and kill you feet after a while. And forget it if you drop something!

Hmmmm… what should I do today? I think I will spend 10-12 hours painting bricks on my concrete walk. I think my back will feel great when I am done.  Just keep telling yourself to smile!

This is really interesting. I would love it in a craft room or playroom maybe.

Cute playroom idea!

I think that same lady who painted her concrete walk with bricks went over to her neighbors and painted cobblestone. Her back didn’t hurt quite enough so she had to spend another 5 days painting cobblestone. What a crazy bitch show-off!  Don’t you hate an overachiever?  Hee!

Under no circumstances should you do this to your home! Ever! Unless you never want to have another person visit you. Yikes.

Super cute idea for outdoors. You would never have to worry about your rug being weathered, moldy or faded. Easy clean-up as well.

I can’t decide if I like this one or not? I love the room and the dutch door is fabulous, but what do you think of the floor?

Those are a few of my favorites (except for the crazy torture chamber pic I just had to throw in there).  Have a wonderful Friday and enjoy your weekend!  See you Monday

Hope your life is more simple concrete rug heaven than painted cobblestone havoc!

  1. Painted concrete is definitely a beauty, but the work it takes to get done needs a lot of patience. DIY painting jobs often require research about materials and the patience to do it. Oftentimes hiring a professional can ease the situation while still having your personal touch into it. Thank you for all these inspiring pictures!
