fabulous friday favorite – gerbera daisies

I heard a quote once that “daisies are like sunshine on the ground”.  How true!  I have never been the girl who loves a dozen roses.  Give me a single Gerbera Daisy any day of the week and I will be elated.  I have loved them since I was a teenager.  I think it is the simplicity of the flower with the bright colors that I am drawn to.  I like the idea of a bright but simple life – maybe that is why my heart pitter-patters when I see a beautiful Gerb.

Just to show you that I have always loved them … here is a picture of me on my wedding day.  Can you see the gerbs?  Oh and notice … no roses – all bright wildflowers!!

There is a good shot of a yellow Gerbera Daisy.  That is my sister and Matron of Honor.  She got married two months before me – my poor parents!  I loved my wedding flowers so much!  It was a fall wedding and the bright colors on a crisp fall day in Minnesota were just stunning!  We are now coming on 19 years of marriage this fall – wow!

Here are some more pictures of Gerbera Daisies that inspire me:

I love the contrast of the hot pink with the limes in the vase. So fresh and simple.

Each color is prettier than the next!

If you haven’t fallen in love with Gerbera Daisies from these pictures than you are hopeless. Just kidding – but really aren’t they so HAPPY! How can you not smile when you see them?

Have a wonderful weekend! We are going to pick up one twin from Auburn on Saturday. The other twin is still at Duke and my other daughter is in PA at a lacrosse tournament. My son leaves Sunday for wrestling camp. It is never ending at the Smith house!!

Hope your life is more Gerbera Daisy heaven than havoc!
