Back to School and Gone Girl

Hello All!

It is Monday morning and the first day back to school for my son. He goes to a private school and starts a week earlier than my girls who go to the public high school. I think I am still in shock that my summer is over. It went so fast, but I have to admit “back-to-school” isn’t all bad!

If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers. ~Edgar W. Howe

This quote makes me giggle.  It is so true (at least for me)!

I am not sure my son is ready to go back, but  getting back to a set schedule is good for him (and for me)!  Here is a picture of my little bug the last three years on the first day of school.    I can’t believe how much he has grown!

His shoe size has gone up three sizes since this time last year.  Wow!  He still small for his age, but I am so happy to see some growth!  Guatemalan’s tend to be small people so he will always be smaller – but he is SO STRONG!  Just ask his wrestling opponents!

I don’t know if you know this about me, but I am a voracious reader.  I just wish I had more time to have my nose in a book.  This weekend, I decided to “unplug” a bit more and sit down and read.  I am telling you this because I am reading such a good book right now, I had to share it with you.

I can’t put it down. Click here to see a summary.  I am about half way through and I am just dying to see how it ends.  This is a real thriller!  I am hoping once school gets going for all my kids, I will have a little more time to read.  I usually carry a book with me everywhere I go, so any extra minutes in carpool or waiting in line I can get in a couple pages.  I am not a Kindle/Nook convert yet.  I love the feel of a real book in my hands.  I have received a Kindle from my mom, so never say never.

I have been working on quite a few home projects lately.  Can’t wait to show you what I have been up to!  See you tomorrow for Teach Me Tuesday!

Hope your life is more Saturday night heaven than Monday morning havoc!

Wow!!! Your life is at a crazy time right now – I’m exhausted just reading through your blog!
Enjoy it now though, you will be surprised at how it comes to a screeching halt when your last graduates from highschool – lol. Following you now.
